Alabama's Largest Education Association Comes Out in Support of Smoot

( Birmingham, AL) - Today, the Alabama Education Association (AEA) confirmed they would endorse Shelia Smoot in her bid to win the Democratic nomination for Alabama's 7th Congressional District Seat Primary runoff on July 13th. The AEA is an advocate organization that leads the movement for excellence in education and is the voice of education professionals in Alabama.

Shelia says of the endorsement "I'm truly humbled. The AEA is a champion for educational excellence. We are humbled by their endorsement and look forward to working with AEA to continue fighting for better education in the 7th District. The AEA has placed their trust in a candidate who will stand by them and be ON THEIR SIDE.  My goal and beacon is to remain focused and advocate for the betterment of our schools, classrooms, educators and the next generation of leaders, the children"

The AEA is an affiliate of the 3.2 million member, National Education Association (NEA) - the nation's largest professional employee organization.

Smoot has also received the endorsements of the Alabama Democratic Conference, the Alabama Federation of Teachers - Local #2143, the National Association of Black County Officials and the Demopolis Times.
